The Huasteca cultural region of Mexico encompasses 6 states that extend along a portion of the Eastern Sierra Madre mountains from the Gulf of Mexico to the central plains: Veracruz, Tamaulipas, Hidalgo, San Luis Potosí, Querétaro, Guanajuato with common thread of pre-colonial communities and tradition and a cultural sign in huapango music, a rich tradition of adlibbing and trio that opens the sequence of images. It is long but illustrates the lowland portion, to the East of Sierra Gorda Biosphere Reserve.
